This photograph, made in 1973 by Josef Koudelka incorporates several strong lines, using figures and natural landscape. The contrast in color of the sky and ground create an upper horizontal line, while the gravel road engraves a slightly lower horizontal line. The depth of field is present in noticing the sprawled length of the closest body centered in the frame compared to the small outline of a horse standing in the upper left corner. Also, the position of the bodies allow for an interesting combination of angles. The gypsy on the far left dressed in a suit throws the ball up creating a straight line with his elbow pointing at the man across from him, who seems to be leaning in. His leaning body creates an arrow toward the ball in the air. The body on the ground is peaceful, while the other two add movement to the scene. Overall, this picture has many lines, angles, and a general sense of contrasting still versus movement.
